The Dutch Health Law Association (Vereniging voor Gezondheidsrecht, VRG) organized on Friday, November 3, 2023, the 10th Leenen Lecture during the fall 2023 meeting, with Anniek de Ruijter as guest speaker. The lecture offered an inspiring look at the future of health law and its impact on the European Union and its member states.

In the Henk Leenen Lecture, Anniek de Ruijter spoke about three "megatrends": demographic change, the digital revolution and climate change, and the challenges this will pose to health law in the future. Specifically, she discussed how these trends may affect the EU's role in regulating health at the national level. What impact does the constitutional position of health care in our society have on the future of the EU? De Ruijter emphasized the crucial role health law will play in coordinating and harmonizing healthcare policies within the European Union.
