In May, the Law Centre for Health and Life welcomed a new postdoctoral researcher, Alec Cali. Their research focuses on the impact of government policy on public trust in vaccines.

Who are you?

My name is Alec Cali. I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Amsterdam Law School at the University of Amsterdam. My research focuses on the impact of government policy on public trust in vaccines. Prior to my doctoral research, I conducted life course research and worked in disability rights advocacy. My doctoral research examined the role political polarization and regulatory changes have on public confidence in vaccines and public health institutions. The influence of regulatory reform and ideological shifts on public preferences and healthcare decision-making are central to my ongoing research interests.

What are you going to do here?

Within END-VOC I will be conducting empirical-legal research on methods to improve pandemic preparedness and public trust through legal, regulatory, and risk communication strategies. This research aims to inform decisionmakers of best practices in securing public support for actions to mitigate pandemics.

What do you do to unwind?

I like to unwind by reading a book or watching a movie with my cats.
